The internet is full of unrealistic cleaning schedules built for people without jobs, kids, or a real life. Here's what actually keeps a Hudson County household clean without consuming your weekends.
Daily (10 minutes total)
Make beds, wipe down kitchen counters after meals, run dishwasher or wash dishes, pick up clutter from common areas, quick bathroom counter wipe. That's it. Anything more is overkill for a daily routine.
Twice a week (15 minutes each)
Quick bathroom touch-up: wipe sink, mirror, toilet exterior. Sweep or quick-vacuum kitchen floor. Empty kitchen and bathroom trash.
Weekly (60-90 minutes)
Full bathroom clean: scrub shower, scrub toilet, mop floor. Vacuum all carpet and rugs. Mop hard floors. Change bed linens. Dust visible surfaces. Wipe kitchen appliance exteriors.
Bi-weekly
Wipe down doors, light switches, doorknobs. Vacuum under furniture. Clean inside microwave. Wipe down refrigerator exterior including handles and top.
Monthly
Deep-clean kitchen sink and drain. Wash bedroom and bathroom windows. Vacuum mattresses and upholstery. Clean inside fridge. Wash baseboards in high-traffic areas.
Quarterly (or hire professionals)
Inside oven, behind refrigerator, ceiling fan blades, light fixtures, blinds, baseboards site-wide, window tracks, vacuum carpets with attachments, scrub grout. This is what a professional deep cleaning covers.
